A szélsodorta falevelet rettegted-é?

(Jób 13,25)

 Pannonicus Reformatus

A teremtett világ őszi, mindent felülmúló színpompáján át súg neked, nekem valamit, Ő, aki felülmúlhatatlan isteni ecsetjével beszínezi a múlandóság vásznát csodás életszínekkel. Isten üzen – októberről, októbernek – neked, nekem.

A jóbi Igével ezredévek óta szívbemarkolóan súgja: szél sodorta falevél leszel, földre nehézkedő elmúlás gravitációval, avarba hulló, sár fedte, lassan bomló falevéllé, hacsak…

elkezded keresni a felfelé emelő Kezet. A földre hullás örök ellenpontját: az égbe emelő, lendítő Istent, aki idő fölötti szívével most is ott lebeg életed felett.

Különös szellemi, históriai négyszöggé állnak össze a véletlenszerűségen messze túllépő, mély értelmű időcsúcsok. Négy tér-idői magaslata és élménymélysége van októbernek: 3. és 6., 23. és 31. A két szélső dátum európai keretként veszi körül a belső kettőt, magyarságtörténeti létezés tanulságokat hömpölygetve Duna-Tisza-táji nemzeti létünk medrében.

Október 3-án erre emlékeznek Németországban, a legújabb kori történelem egyik meghatározó eseményeként a német újraegyesítésre.

Ők voltak kortárs honfitársaikkal együtt, akik a szabadságért életüket is áldozták a Haza láthatatlan oltárán. Honszeretetük példátlan személyes üzenet. Megalkuvás nélküli bátorságuk történelmi parabola a trónon ülők, az uralkodók hatalmának törékenységéről, látszólagos diadaluk szélfútta levélhez hasonló mulandóságáról.

Aztán a vértükröző vörös falevelek sorában jön október 23.

És a hónap végén a sárgás-aranyszínű falevelek naptürköző, evangéliumi örökfényt visszacsillantó fényforrásaként október 31., a reformáció születésnapja, diadalra emelésének, világmegtartó, lélektartó oszlopos igazságainak világító tornyával.

A történelem útjain hazavándorolt generációk testamentumos helytállásáért. Áldom a Teremtőt, Kárpát-medencei otthonainkért.

I GREET YOU, OCTOBER – FRAUGHT WITH MESSAGES FOR OUR FAITH AND NATION!
“Wilt thou break a leaf driven to and fro?” (Job 13:25)
“Autumn has arrived and whispered something” (Endre Ady)
Autumn is here, it is here again. Reading Endre Ady’s poem written in a Paris permeated by the premonition of passing, I feel: Autumn has arrived and whispered something. Through the autumn, unsurpassed colorful splendor of the created world, He whispers something to you and to me—He, who with His matchless divine brush colors the canvas of mortality with wondrous colors of life. God sends a message—about October, to October—to you and to me.
Through the words of Job, He has been whispering heart-wrenchingly for millennia: you will be a wind-driven leaf, bound to the earth by the gravity of passing, falling into the debris, covered in mud, a slowly decaying leaf, unless… Unless you are startled in time by this descent resembling a leaf, which annihilates into finiteness and finality, and then you begin to search for the Hand that lifts you upward. The eternal counterpoint to falling to the earth: the God who elevates and propels you into heaven, who even now hovers over your life with His heart that is above time.
With the whirlwind of His heavenly-earthly Spirit, He catches you up and elevates you to heights unthought of by man, into the infinity of His personal love. October is the most beautiful temporal framework of passing and eternal life, of falling down and being elevated to God. Before the onset of temporary or final winter, the Great Lord and Painter of Existence invites us to realizations through a thousand-colored pomp, leading us through almost pitch-dark low points into the blue heights by the memory of illustrious days. What does the autumn of October whisper to you, what does it whisper to us?
For decades, I have heard October whispering to us increasingly richly, with the mystery of unraveling existence, and with messages and lessons incarnated into words. The silent signals woven into the framework of biblical perspectives, human and national struggles of destiny, are already expanding into a vision of philosophy of history and theology. The temporal peaks of profound meaning, stepping far beyond randomness, assemble into a peculiar intellectual and historical quadrangle. October has four space-time elevations and depths of experience: the 3rd and the 6th, the 23rd and the 31st. The two outer dates enclose the inner two like a European frame, rolling the lessons of Hungarian historical existence in the riverbed of our national being in the Danube-Tisza region.
All four open our mortal eyes—bloodily and tragically, with their joys, tears, and truths that shine until the end of history—to the same unceasing call of freedom. To that which the Protestant New Testament scholar E. Käsemann left to us: the freedom of God continuously calls, addresses, and seeks us. In the personal depths of human existence and in the dramatic or rarely flashing, victorious turns of history. With the calling of the desire for freedom “coded” by Him, and out of Himself, into our human existence—a desire that cannot be enclosed within walls, silenced, over-ideologized, bought, or suffocated by secret state-power organs and techniques, digital brain-reading, and brainwashing systems.
For freedom and its calling are the core prerequisite and foundational experience of the human existence created by God. A freedom breathed into us. Warm with God, tasting of God. And if “we can only sing about freedom a little and with fear” (Kálmán Csiha), then the soul and the spirit will search for and find the points of breakthrough. On October 3rd, this is remembered in Germany, as one of the defining events of modern history: German reunification. In this, by allowing the refugees from the GDR to pass through our homeland in 1989, we inscribed ourselves among the nations defining European history.
On October 6th, we remember the thirteen martyr generals of Arad, whose execution was intended by the Habsburgs to be the graveyard of our national existence and a means to force an obedient slave mentality upon us. It was they, along with their contemporary compatriots, who sacrificed their lives for freedom on the invisible altar of the Homeland. Their patriotism is an unprecedented personal message. Their uncompromised courage is a historical parable about the fragility of the power of rulers sitting on thrones, about the wind-blown, leaf-like transience of their apparent triumphs.
Then, in the row of blood-reflecting red leaves, comes October 23rd. The universal theological realization of the irresistible presence and unquenchable nature of freedom in the depths of the soul and the nation. A desire for freedom that could not be deterred even by the caterpillar tracks of a tank-driven and atheist empire—it could only be suppressed, stamped into the ground for a brief time, resulting in the illusion of victory for the dictatorship. And meanwhile, in the depths of the soul of our people, our Hungarian nation, the song of freedom kept resounding, even if they sang it only a little and with fear.
And at the end of the month, as a light source reflecting the sun-gilded, evangelical eternal light of the yellowish-golden leaves, comes October 31st: the birthday of the Reformation, with its lighthouse of world-preserving, soul-sustaining, pillar-like truths lifted into triumph. A crystal peak of fixed points of almost cosmic realizations. The power of a renewal of faith that promises meaning, purpose, and fulfillment, renewing individual destiny and the history of nations with an existence-turning hope, offering spiritual and moral posture.
This serves as the fulfillment of the daydream of ancient Archimedes: “Give me a place to stand, and I will move the earth.” What he did not succeed in doing—and could not succeed in doing—God and the Lamb accomplished from 1517 onward, through the door of the Castle Church in Wittenberg with its 95 theses. Not only did the door open to new truths, but the door of grace was also flung wide open before the children of the true Church, who until now and until the end of history understand and receive the pillars of truth of that wonderful Wittenberg autumn, dressing personal and communal existence in a pomp of colors.
Sola fide: the fundamental thesis that the righteous shall live by faith—standing before God and humans; solus Christus: Christ alone is our high priest and mediator, once and for all before God; sola Scriptura: the Bible as the messenger of the call of freedom, the foundational truth that sustains the soul and flourishes national consciousness in the mother tongue; sola gratia: the thesis that freedom and truth are not human achievements, for grace is a gift offered by God, and it can only be received with empty hands and an empty heart; soli Deo gloria: for all of this, thanks, gratitude, praise, and glorification belong solely and exclusively to the Savior God.
I love you, October, as a gift fraught with messages of our God’s love, for your beautiful and instructive colors, for your examples of events to be taken to heart even today. For the testamentary steadfastness of generations that have wandered home along the paths of history. For those who once and even today—amidst and despite the noise pollutions, hearing, and vision impairments of our age—clearly perceive the colorful wonder of Autumn, pointing beyond itself and full of divine signs, on the banks of the Seine and in Várad, in Pozsony and in Budapest, at Verecke, and in the vastness of the Csík Mountains. I bless the Creator for our homes in the Carpathian Basin.

TI SALUTO, OTTOBRE – CARICO DI MESSAGGI PER LA NOSTRA FEDE E LA NOSTRA NAZIONE!
“Vuoi spaventare una foglia sballottata dal vento?” (Giobbe 13,25)
